Friday August 2nd till Sunday August 4th 2002

ith joy in our heart, filled with gratefulness towards Swami, we, the Sai-Youth from Belgium, can report to have enjoyed a pleasant and inspiring weekend together with the Sai-Youth from Ireland and England.
Swami being the central point, made the Brotherhood amongst the participants very tangible and it still has a heart warming influence today.

Sai Ram to all of you.

Ireland at its best
The idea occurred during the stay of an Irish Sai-brother in Belgium: why not organise a Sai Week-end for youth in Ireland for a change? And apparently Swami gave the go-ahead, because it became a most wonderful week-end indeed. On short notice, a 3-day week-end was organised in Glendalough, a beautiful place in Ireland just a few kilometres out of Dublin. We stayed in a roomy residence by the riverside, in between wooded crests of hills. The dozens of midges, the smaller version of the mosquito, which were found quite annoying by many, couldn't spoil the fun.
There were ten Belgian, ten Irish and three British participants, the four members of the Irish cooking crew included. A recipe for a successful week-end.

Activities
We spent our time with worthwhile and recreational activities: bhajans, prayers, a play, music, acquaintance games, nature walks, …
The Belgian participants were asked to speak English only. Everyone seemed to be in harmony with one another. All this and especially our common love for Baba in everything we did, made this first Sai Youth Week-end of the Sathya Sai Baba Brotherhood into the very valuable experience of unity and co-operation, all under Swami's care.

Baba's presence and guidance
Already during preparations, Baba's guidance could clearly be felt. The ten Belgian youth who signed up, formed into a harmonious group from the start, and had a common goal: to turn this into a pleasant get-together in Baba's name, because "spirituality can be fun".

Our prayers to Baba to make the weather agreeable, were more than answered. On the day of our arrival there was still some rain, but already the sun came peeking through the clouds. On Saturday we hardly had any rain at all, and on Sunday we had blazing sun, we even got a tan. And when you realise that it rains almost constantly in Ireland, and that they have an average of only five sunny days a year, you understand how exceptional this was.
We therefore fully enjoyed it, knowing that it was all His work.

Each one of us realises that such an adventure can only come into existence with Baba's blessing, Who has been the loving driving force behind all of this.

Extra mention
From the Sai Lingam Center a letter was sent to Baba in advance to inform Him about the comming Youth Weekend. After that, Baba gave us an extra confirmation in His own sublime way. A Sai-brother in England came to know about the retreat in Ireland through an inner message from Baba!
